Mercutio
One of the more interesting characters in all of Shakespeare's plays. Mercutio is another one of the characters in the play that provide comic relief, along with the Nurse. Mercutio is a good friend of Romeo. He is a very imaginative person, very good with words, though quite strange at times as he often rambles on with words of no meaning. He also seems to like to make sexual remarks in his wordplay, which is part of his comedic character. In the play, Mercutio and the rest of Romeo's friends take Romeo out party crashing to cheer ol' Romeo up, since at the time he was lovesick over a girl named Rosaline. Later in the play, him and Tybalt end up having a sword fight on a hot day. Romeo tries to break up the fight, but Tybalt's sword gets to Mercutio in the middle of all that. Mercutio dies, and Romeo then tries to "avenge" his death.
